Name: Jim Holeva Team: Bike Hub Category/Class: Sport Junior Men Place: 2nd Email: JHOLEVACYCLING@AOL.COM What was your favorite Super Series race for 2001 and why? Neshaminy. There were few places to rest, the heart rate stayed high. Fast fun course, semi technical. Fun technical climbs and awesome descents. Just a great all around course. Pretend you are coaching your closest competitor........ what would you tell them to do differently in 2002 in order to beat you? |

Improve there climbing ability, and endurance. Train there body to recover faster on descents so they could go faster on the climbs and flats. What is it about mtb racing (BESIDES WINNING) that is MOST fun for you? I love to see improvement, I love to see all my hard work pay off. I love competing against other racers to see who is better on that course that day. What month do you plan on coming into fitness for the 2002 season? I plan to be strong in April and May, but start to really come on in June for the Fell Mtn. Race and the Snowshoe Norba National. I plan to see consistent improvement all season long. What month do you start your pre-season training? Well right now I've been focusing more on running. I've been riding my bike for fun but running some local races and training hard for the Philadelphia Marathon. I'll stay focused on running througout November. In December I'll start to increase my volume on the bike. How do you deal with riding in the winter conditions (cold, snow, ice, lack of daylight)? Nothing special just dress warm. If the temps. under 30 degrees, which is pretty much all the time where I live, I'll make sure I ride offroad. If the temps down in the teens i'll usually run. If it's snowing I'll be hitting the slopes for some skiing, and possibly squeezing in a short intense workout on the trainer or rollers. What are your goals for the 2002 season? 1. Upgrade to Semi Pro by the end of the season. 2. Win a Norba NCS Race in the Expert 19-24 Class 3. Finish 1st Overall for the season in the Mid Atlantic Super Series Expert Senior 1 Class 4. Win a Mid Atlantic Super Series Race Overall Is the "pro mountain bike racer" lifestyle as much fun as you thought it would be? Some races the results were messed up. Accurate results every race would be awesome!
