Did you do everything you could to prepare for today's race?
No, I thought that I would not be prepared because I was camping with my wife and youngest son at Williamsport, PA for the Little League World Series. After four nights of sleeping on the group and breaking camp early Sunday morning to get to the race, I was doubtful about having a great performance.
Did you have any problems getting into the singletrack?
No, I got there okay, right behind Karl but crashed shortly thereafter causing team mate Andrew McDermott to run over me.
How did you like the long climbs?
I didn't seem to have any problems with them probably due to the moderate temperature
Were you strong from start to finish?
I was pretty consistent. Karl and I battled back and forth throughout the race.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
The race was well run. The race organizers did a great job with the course, timing and results.
When did you put the hammer down?
I was able to gap Karl on the last bit of single track before the road to the finish. I was doubtful that I could maintain the lead due to Karl's strength on the road but was fortunate to reach the finish as he was closing in.
Did you have any unusual problems?
No.
Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
As with all the other series races, I enjoy the pre and post race conversations with the other Masters riders. Karl says he is bringing a Stout beer for a post race get together after the next race.
Do you enjoy point to point races more than lap races?
I think they both have their good points but I like lap races better since they tend to be more spectator friendly. Our friends and families come a long way to support us and it's more exciting for them to see more of the action.
