Alan Turns

How was your fitness level going into this race?

I felt pretty strong this last week.

Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?

Very happy. Actually, I was shocked. I usually start slow.

Were you strong from start to finish?

I must have been. It was so hard to tell. The slippery course made it difficult to get any rythm.

When did you put the hammer down?

I'm not sure I ever put the hammer down, I just never quit.

Did you have any unusual problems?

I couldn't believe I was actually in first place and that was really messing with my head.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

It was great. I only wish the conditions were better because it's such a grat course when it's dry.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

The last lap was really taking it's toll on me and I rode with a couple of Guy's racers and we were talking a bit and I think it helped take my mind off the pain a little.

Anything you would like to add?

Singlespeeds rock!!
