How was your fitness level going into this race? I'm feeling fit but you are never as fit as you want to be! Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack? Singletrack? Was there any? Yes, I was happy with my position at the top of the prologue but it would have been much nicer to have been the leader down that nasty mud fest hill!! I have never eaten so much mud in my life. Were you strong from start to finish? Not really. The mud really eats you up. When did you put the hammer down? I never really put the hammer down. Did you have any unusual problems? Just like most people I had the chain suck, the 500 lbs of mud that was almost impossible to push and the tasty mud filled drinks. I did manage to pedal my back wheel right out of the drops and it took a while to figure out the problem because there was so much mud covering everything. Did I mention that it was muddy today? Were you happy with the way the race was run? Yes. I like the use of the ski lodge it makes it a much more spectator friendly scene. Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)? It was really funny not being able to recognize your teammates! The Sport racers had it much worse than us. They were real troopers out there. Anything you would like to add? Again I want to thank the promoters of the series and mountainbikeracer.com for making this such a great venue for fun and racing!
