Hibernia Spring Bash '01 Mid-Atlantic Super Series #1 |
Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?
I made sure I was properly hydrated before the race.
Did you achieve your goals for this race?
Yes and no. I wanted to finish strong, and I did that. My other goal was to ride cleanly through the last section of rocky single track. I didn't do that, and because of that, I got second to Joey Thompson. I hate to say this, but he was a little mistaken probably by someone else on my team, but he passed me within the last mile, not the last 2.5 miles.
Were you strong from start to finish?
Yes, except for the very end where I started to lose a little coordination.
Did you change your race strategy after encountering the more difficult course this year?
No.
What was your favorite part of the course?
The really rocky ridge just before the sport/expert-pro split.
When did you put the hammer down?
Too soon. I didn't save enough to ride the last technical section cleanly.
Due to the heat and difficult course did you have any problems with cramping or dehydrating?
No.
Did you have any unusual problems?
For about half the race I couldn't use my first chainring
How would you rate the course?
Great. I need more practice for next year.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
The start sucked, but other than that, it was a good race.
Is there anything you would like to add?
I'm not trying to be a jerk by mentioning when I lost the lead. I just feel that since it was stated on the opening page that I should add my opinion to the mix. If I was mistaken and it was another rider that I thought was Joey, then I'm sorry.
