Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?
I can't say all the secrets, but I can assure you that what I did only prepared me for this race.
Did you achieve your goals for this race?
Yes, winning was on a lot of peoples minds, so I knew I had to pull out some extra tools to get this one in the bank.
Were you strong from start to finish?
The only thing I can say is I think I am a cannonball that can pick itself
up after losing momentum and fire off again......
then repeat the process. In other words there is a lot of training in store
for me in the future.
Don Morrison and Wissahickon Cyclery did a great job putting together this race and we thank them for their efforts. Was there anything that you observed that could be done better as the series progresses?
Yes, due to the large number of racers there seemed to be a bit of confusion with times and places for the beginners. A lot of people were talking about the problem of the time keepers. There may be a better way of developing a strategy for larger races. I was speaking to the man that was taking the pictures at the podium and he had informed me that there were many visits to this web site inquiring about the race. So maybe the larger the number of visits before a race means more people are racing and the appropriate actions need to be taken in order for the race to run smoothly.
When did you put the hammer down?
I try not to let up too much because if I do I may not place well. So I give it all I've got at all the different aspects of the course especially when it becomes easier to do. For example, on all the roads and wider trails I'll always go fast but on the climbs I'll usually back off my performance on the first time around and try and save some energy for the next climb for which I'll explode up it. (or at least try!)
If you ran into these exact trail conditions again, would you do anything differently?
No
Did you have any unusual problems?
Yes, so I keep those to myself.
How would you rate the course?
Fairly difficult, a fun place to ride for beginners who may need to use this as a stepping stone for harder races and also for the more advanced that are looking for a race that won't punish them right off the bat. Its also pretty fast.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
Pretty much except for what I had mentioned about the timing officials.
If you could do the race again - would you do anything differently?
No I don't think so. Not at the beginning part of my racing years anyway. Maybe when I had some race experiences I will let you guys and gals know.
Is there anything you would like to add?
In the category section I had to put sport in order for this to transmit. I
race beginner.
(thanks Chris...... we fixed that)
