While we were covering the MAC cyclo-cross Finals on Dec. 3, 2000 Don Morrison informed us that he was thinking about putting together the Mid-Atlantic Super Series. He mentioned that there would not be a New Jersey Series this year and since the Wye Mills AMBC was canceled there would be a void in early spring.

So to keep mountain biking alive and well in the Mid-Atlantic he thought of bringing back the Hibernia County Park race - just north of Coatesville, Pa on April 8th, 2001. It would make a perfect start to a well- planned group of races that will have individual and team rankings, uniform age groups (including a men's 50+), a finite number of races (10 cross country events) all to be within about 2 1/2 hours driving time of each other, ending at Spring Mountain Resort, Spring Mount, Pa September 30, 2001so as not to conflict with cyclo-cross.

Don has rounded up a group of seasoned promoters with each race keeping its own character, offering different challenges but taking on a whole new image by being part of the series.

Results, rankings and race coverage of each event will be available on this site. To know your present individual ranking or team ranking all you'll need is Internet access. If you race the series, we'll probably have at least one photo of you in action and you'll be able to keep track of how you or other competitors are doing as the series progresses.

The series information will be linked from our home page. The race calendar, race coverage, current individual and team points, rules and regulations, categories and age groups and an explanation of the point system will be easily accessible 24 hours a day.

mountainbikeracer.com is proud to sponsor this series with Sugoi and also Dirt Rag, Pedro's, Hammer Gel and E-Caps.

  • End of series prizes will be done at Spring Mountain.
  • The 1st place series winners will receive a winner's jersey in each age group thanks to Sugoi!!
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd places get series winners medals.
  • At EVERY race 1st, 2nd and 3rd places get series medals.
  • This is in ADDITION to promoter's normal prizes!

Don and the promoters were thoughtful in planning the Super Series as the two east coast National Cross-country Series events (Snowshoe, WV and Mt. Snow, VT) do not conflict with our dates. April and May will have one race each and then June, July, August and September will have two races per month. Wissahickon Cyclery (Hibernia Spring Bash), Team Harrisburg (Race For Chocolate), Guy's Racing (Guy's Racing Summer Classic ), Delaware Trail Spinners (Fair Hill Classic), Wooden Wheels (Escape from Granogue), First State Velo Sport (Iron Hill Challenge), Lackawanna Cycle Club (Fell Mountain Challenge), Lehigh Gore State Park (White Haven Challenge), Guy's Bicycles (SUBARU Fall Classic) and Spring Mountain Resort (Spring Mountain Challenge) have agreed to participate in the "mountainbikeracer.com Mid-Atlantic Super Series 2001".

Get your teams ready to race the brand new Hibernia Spring Bash, the fast and furious hard pack of Fair Hill, the hot and heavy hills of Granogue and the challenges of Spring Mountain Resort (not to mention all of the great races in-between). Just think, you'll be able to e-mail your friend in France a picture of you on the Internet sporting the mountainbikeracer.com Mid-Atlantic Super Series 2001 winner's jersey! Best of Luck.

The series winners will receive a winner's jersey in
EACH AGE GROUP
thanks to Sugoi!!
