CHRIS
EATOUGH-
TREK/VOLKSWAGEN FIGHTING FOR POINTS IN UCI EVENTS |
Here's the latest results following Houffalize World Cup #3
http://www.cyclingnews.com/results/2000/apr00/houffalizemtbwc00.shtml#mres
As you will see our boy Chris just squeaked into the last pt. postion(70th) in what looks to be a hard fought race (check DNFs). He's keeping us on the edge of our seats in a tight GBr race to the Sydney. Coming into round three Barrie Clark and Ian Wilkinson held the GBr points lead...but they both failed to secure points this wknd.
Now, two other Brits finished up on Chris[P. Lasenby(44th) and O. Beckingsale(53rd)], so with the suffle in points Chris is 18pts off of new 2nd Brit, Lasenby.
So, can expect another suffle of points next weekend. I'd like to wish Chris
the best-o-luck next week in round
#4...St. Wendel,Ger.
Thanks to Trek/VW,JBL,HAYES DISK BRAKES,ZEAL OPTICS,Sram/Gripshift and EMSM for support in Chris's endeavors.
Hey Friends, Just got a brief report from Chris E. on this past weekends' World Cup in Bel. Yes, as suspected, was very tough, but was compounded with a mechanical problem.
Again, Best-o-luck this weekend @ St. Wendel. ---ferg

Ferg,
Thanks for spreading the word. Feel free to pass on the continuation below.
Houffalise was indeed tough. Good course that allowed fair racing (good passing
lanes) and lots of climbing. Also lots of skinni euro climbers that werent at
Napa and Mexico. I had a good race and was glad to get a few points out of it
(although I felt like I worked v hard for onli a few points).
F. Derailler broke on the last lap and cost me 1.5 to 2 mins, and between 4
and 6 places. Lucki that I could finish with points, but unlucki that it didnt
last till the race was over. I was just about to capture Larsen when it broke.
Now in St Wendel. Course is tougher than I expected. Tough climbs, and v slow
soil in the woods that sucks energi. Good for power riders though. I think this
is a great chance to make up some points.
Alles gut,
Tchus, Chris.
