Wooden Wheels 3rd place
Five man team at 24hrs of Allamuchy

Wooden Wheels at Allamuchy

Wooden Wheels ran a close third at the 24 Hours of Allamuchy over the weekend. The 5 person open team (3 men and 2 women) finished only 32 minutes behind the 2nd place team. Dan Lechman was the first to start and averaged 1:05 lap time. This was Dan's first 24hr. race. Team members Craig Shaffer, Tim Kane, Lyn Shaffer, and Lauri Webber followed in that order. This was also Lauri's first 24hr race and 2nd time ever riding at night. 2 flat tires plagued Lauri's 1st lap, but she still pulled off a good lap time.
Everyone had a great attitude and supported each other, which was a good thing because we got a last minute call from our support saying they couldn't make it! The weather was also very cooperative, comfortable day temp. and warm night temps. The evenings dew on top of the already damp course from the previous rains made the rocks and roots quite treacherous on the night laps.
The day laps however where very fast, making up for slower night laps. Overall the race was well organized. Everyone was helpful and emphasis was on having a good and safe race! Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to next year's race.
