"A Sea of Blue
& Yellow"
by MARC VETTORI |
|
"When I lined up all I saw was a sea of Blue and Yellow" commented Tammy Ebersol captain of Team Evolution, the 2nd ranked cyclocross team in Pennsylvania. Although the final individual and team results are not expected for another week, as MAC chairman Andrew Albright is vacationing in Colorado, Wooden Wheels hopes are high. With 5 riders expected to finish in the overall top 10, and outstanding show of numbers at the MAC Finals yesterday, We are anxious to see if the team was able to make up Bike Doctor's 104 point lead. In the Women's race Katie Compton finished in 1st place. Katie finishes the season with 3 wins out of 4 races. Jeanie Rengers, who raced ill, finished up in 8th. Diane Vettori, a little hung over, finished in 12. In the Master's race, Mark Nickerson lead the way with an 11th place finish. Alan Turns was 12th. Terry Blanche (17th), Bill Deputy(13th), and John Thompson(14th) each rode strongly in a stacked field. In the B race, Kelly Keith lead the way finishing 4th. Marc Vettori flatted on the first lap and battled back to finish in 8th. Ted McDaniel also flatted on the first lap finishing 23rd. Mark Fitzwater finished 22nd. In the Junior race Joey Thompson made his debut a strong one finishing in third. (Great job joey !) In the A race big brother Justin matched his brothers finish battling Jeremiah Bishop, Chris Eatough, Mike Yozell, and Greg Ferguson to finish in 3rd. Over all Wooden Wheels had a strong day. Look to hear early next week the series results. Thanks to Dave Mandhart and all of the FSVS posse for putting on a top notch race on what I thought was the best course this year. |
