Proud Weekend for
Wooden Wheels
by Marc Vettori |
Last weekend was a very proud weekend for the Wooden Wheels Racing Program. We had riders on three different teams all have successful results.
1. Paul Gassler riding with Jay Cimini (one of the regions top Cat 4's) Triathlon Sean (sick fit) and Keith (ridign so strong).. These guys raced in the 4 man sport class (probably the most competitive) and finished up in 16th place. Awesome.
In the open class Wooden Wheels was very well represented. The Shaffers team "sofa king fast" (say it ten times out loud phonics rule !) finished in 10th place. Lynn and Craig were joined by Nick Shaffer, TK, and Dan. (the former three of Collegeville Bike Line). Sofa Kings rode a great race.
Finally Wooden Wheels Racing, all showing up with newly clad blonde hair dues, which had Marc, Jesse, Ted, Fitzy, and Jeanie. We also had a good weekend finishing in 8th. There were 112 teams starting in this class. That's right folks WWR placed two teams in the top 10 of the east coast's biggest race in the deepest class.
The course was the toughest 12 miles I ever raced on as the roots were sick like I have never seen. Steep descents and long fire road climbs made the loop challenging to ride just once, not even thinking about riding it multiple times or in the middle of the night. Great Job everyone. I would also like to thank all the folks who helped to support us,especially Mike Brevoort, who was up all night and made sure everyone got to the transition area on time, and kept splits on everyone. Thanks Mike !!
